Hey, do you have a registration form in your backpack? If not, you might want to get one. Those EAA classes after school are starting next week. If you want to be in one, you must register by next Tuesday! If you have it now, give the paper to Kim, our school secretary. You can find her at the front desk in the office. |
The Prime Time guys and girls are studying global literature, which are stories from around the world. The second and third graders are studying about twenty stories! They are going from February 1st to the end of May, which is about fifteen weeks!

Lego Motion is going to state tomorrow. Actually, they leave tonight to head out to Ames. We have already done a story on Lego League, but they have been very busy lately, and we have more information. They named their robot Bob. They have worked on their presentation, and they can't wait to go to the hotel and swim. This is the second year for Lego League at Madison, and the second year in a row for them to go to State! Way to go. . . . and Good luck!

This week Mrs. Luetchford's class is starting a new science unit. Balls and ramps! They started playing with function machines. Now they just started to learn about verbs! Hope you guys have fun!

You want to learn how to have fun and be safe at the same time? A well, with all this snow and good temperature, sledding is getting really popular. So we're going to tell you the do's and don'ts, straight from the Bat Cave!
First of all, you have to have ALL the right gear, which includes boots, gloves, a hat, and snow pants. No one should be throwing snowballs, because you never know what could happen!
By the way, if it's below ten degrees, there's no outdoor recess, because that's just too cold!

In Mrs. Duther's class, they have just finished Glaciers. Those would be very large floating ice-sickles!

When you come down the hallway towards the music room, be sure to look up above the lockers.
Kids in the west-wing have been making 'WINTER FUN' banners. Check them out, they're great! West-wing kids, you're great at the art.

During the past few weeks, you may have seen the fifth graders in the computer lab - a lot!
That's because they were researching explorers! The fifth graders had an assignment to become any explorer they wanted. So, they gave a speech about their life as that explorer. Here are some highlights from some of the speeches! (video)

| With the NFL in the playoffs, we asked kids in all grades who would win the Super Bowl. Nobody said the Chargers would win, nor the Ravens. Nobody said the Saints would win, nor the Cardinals. 13 kids at Madison think the Cowboys will win. 26 kids said the Colts will win. 26 said the Jets. 52 kids said the Vikings will win. And the teachers? Don't even ask them. They get all crazy!

Here's a chip off the old block! One of the teachers has broken their tooth. He or she is not saying how it happened, but it may have involved a Wii remote control. You've got to say, that sounds like it would hurt, doesn't it?

The ceiling is the limit! Not that indoor recess is boring or anything, but Mr. Fred and Mr. Casey's second grade classes are building towers out of base-ten blocks. They used all the base-ten blocks they had between the two classes. First up this week, we have video on Mr. Fred's class. (video)
