We had Spring Pictures on Wednesday. In the pictures you stand up against a wall and you get to choose between
. holding flowers if you're a girl,
. folding your arms by your chest,
. or putting your hands in your pockets.

Do you know what Jump Rope for Heart is? It is a program that the Cedar Rapids School District does every year. You raise money to help cure all types of cancers and you get to have fun jump roping. Madison students will jump for about two weeks. Hope you guys raise a lot - and have fun!!!

This Week Mr. Kirchhoff's and Mr. Fred's classes had Author's Luncheon on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Author's Luncheon is where kids get to read a story that they have written. Then they have their parents come in and they read their story to them and the other adults. And of course, they get to eat lunch with their parents. (Video)

In Mr. Casey's class, they are moving into the cafeteria to bag rice. What we mean by that is later on today, the class is making meal bags for the kids that don't have enough food, and that's why their doing it! They are sending them to Kids in Haiti. One of the students in Mr. Casey's class had his mom raise over 500 dollars! Wow! Good jobs, guys!

This week the library got new books! Each year the library is given money from the district to buy new books. Spiderman, Star Wars, Percy Jackson, Diary of the Wimpy Kid, and sports fiction are some of the books they have. Mrs. Rose, our librarian, has been showing off the books to all the classes, and they are now available for check-out. Be sure to check them out!!!

Do you know what Project Mustang is? Project Mustang is all about kids doing something good without being told. Each week, starting the week after spring break, we will pick a list of students doing good stuff around school. Then we will give a shout-out to those students on our news show at the end of the week. So if you're doing good things around here, we're watching. Have fun!!!

This week we had our school spring musicals. Since we have two music teachers, we had two separate concerts. We had Mrs. Arnold's groups on Tuesday and Mrs. Lehmann's groups on Thursday. The choirs got to show off all the music, singing, and instruments they've learned this year. We hope you didn't miss the 5th graders bustin' some moves with the audience on Thursday! Do you ever wonder why our Mustang clocks are 5 minutes slow? Well we will tell you why it is. It is because all the clocks in the school are wired to a clock in Colorado. Wait, let me check that.. Yep, a clock in Colorado.

Last week we showed you one afterschool class. This week, we talked with some kids taking the Guitar Class on Wednesdays. The class goes for an hour. The last guitar class learned a Green Day song. This time they are learning a Taylor Swift song. Here's what they said. (video)
